FAAC Keypad & Intercom Repair: The Spring Owner’s Guide

We repair and replace FAAC keypads and intercom systems in Spring, with most jobs running between $240 and $580 installed depending on the model and whether the wiring harness survived the Texas weather. We stock FAAC-compatible rotary keypads, digital keypads, and intercom call stations on our trucks, so most repairs happen same-day. The way owners usually discover this problem: the gate works fine from the remote and the inside button, but the keypad is dead, the intercom sounds like a bowl of static, or the code stopped working after a storm moved through Gleannloch Farms or Creekside Park.

Which FAAC Models This Applies To

We service the FAAC entry keypads and intercoms that pair with swing and slide operators across the 400, 415, 412, 770, and E024S lines, plus the older 750 and 844 series still running out in older Spring subdivisions. The fast way to identify your part: most FAAC keypads have a model number stamped on the inside of the faceplate or on the back of the circuit board, and the wiring will run to either an X1 or X2 accessory terminal on the control board. One compatibility gotcha we see weekly: a keypad wired for a 12V FAAC board will not survive long on a 24V retrofit, and a 24V keypad underpowered on a 12V system reads ghosts: codes that work once, then fail, then work again. We verify board voltage before recommending any part. FAAC’s original equipment is genuinely well-built, but the cost difference between OEM and a quality aftermarket keypad often runs $60 to $110, and for outdoor keypads in Texas humidity, we usually steer toward a sealed, name-brand aftermarket unit with the same wire map.

Signs Your FAAC Keypad & Intercom Repair Is Failing

Signs Your FAAC Keypad & Intercom Repair Is Failing
  • The keypad accepts the code but the gate does not move. This is usually a failed relay on the keypad board or a broken conductor in the underground wire run. We bench-test the keypad and tone the wire before quoting the repair.
  • The keypad lights up but ignores every button. The membrane or dome switches have worn out, which is common on gates that see heavy use. The fix is a new keypad face or a full unit, not a board repair.
  • The intercom buzzes, clicks, or carries power-line hum. Corrosion on the speaker terminals or a cracked casing letting in moisture. Spring’s rain and humidity cycles accelerate this on gates facing west or north in the Klein and Spring Trails areas.
  • The keypad works after a rain and dies in dry heat. A solder joint or connector is expanding and contracting. This is the hardest one to chase down, because it tests perfectly on the bench and fails on the post.
  • You press a key and the unit beeps twice but never accepts the code. The keypad’s memory chip has lost its programming, often after a power surge. Some units can be reprogrammed; we’ll confirm whether yours is a repairable unit or a replace situation.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For FAAC keypad and intercom work in Spring, you’re looking at $240 to $380 for a digital keypad swap, $280 to $580 for an intercom call station with speaker, and a wiring repair or re-termination typically adds $45 to $90 if the existing wire is still in the ground. The range moves based on whether we’re matching an existing FAAC unit or installing an aftermarket equivalent, whether the access is a pedestal, a brick column, or a gooseneck mount, and whether the old wiring sheath has gone brittle. Every job includes the part, the labor, the reprogramming, and a written price before we touch a tool. The quote you get is the price you pay, and the work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair is not right, we make it right at no charge, no argument, no expiration date within that year.

The honest split is this: if you can read the model off the back of the keypad, take a clear photo of the wiring, and describe the symptom, you have done real diagnostic work that will shorten the visit. What we don’t recommend is opening a live FAAC control board, or pulling and re-terminating wires, or trying to match a replacement keypad by wire color alone. We have seen crossed yellow and white conductors send 24 volts into a brand new keypad, and we have seen a homeowner lose a full day to a keypad that just needed a clean ground. This is low voltage wiring, not line current, so the risk is mostly to your time and your equipment, not your body. If you want it matched correctly the first time, call us at (346) 488-1637 and we will ask for the model number and a photo before we even dispatch.

24/7 Response & The Haven Standard

Vance Gate Repair Spring is an independent gate service company, not an authorized FAAC dealer, which matters because we do not push a brand: we stock parts for whichever motor is already on your property, including FAAC, LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls. We have repaired and installed more than 22,000 gates since 2014, and every one left with a written price delivered before the work started and a documented record of what was found, what was set, and what was installed. A live person answers (346) 488-1637 24/7, seven days a week. Call and we’ll give you a written scope and a written price, same visit, no surprises.
