Trusted Gate Installation for Spring Homeowners

A new driveway gate in Spring typically costs between $3,800 and $9,200 installed, depending on the gate style, material, and whether you’re adding automation. A pedestrian gate runs lower, usually $1,200 to $3,400. We give you the written price before any work starts, so the number you approve is the number you pay.

Vance Gate Repair has installed and serviced gates across the Spring and north Houston corridor since 2014, when Adrian Vance moved from commercial access-control work into residential driveways. We’ve completed over 22,000 gate installations and repairs in that time, and every single one left the property with a written scope, a written price, and a photographed record of the work. If you’ve been putting off a failing gate post or a rusted frame because you don’t want another verbal estimate that turns into a surprise invoice, call (346) 488-1637. We hand you the price in writing before a tool comes off the truck.

What Our Gate Installation Service Includes

Gate installation in Spring covers more than setting posts and hanging a panel. It means checking the grade of your driveway, sizing the gate to the opening, selecting hinges and hardware that hold up to Gulf Coast humidity, and wiring the operator correctly if the gate is automated. We handle the full scope: concrete footings, steel or aluminum fabrication, operator mounting, safety sensors, and final adjustment. Here’s how that breaks down by gate type.

Driveway Gate Installation

A driveway gate is the primary vehicle entry to your property, sized for cars, trucks, or trailers and usually automated. In Spring, most driveway gates are swing or slide configurations, and the choice depends on your driveway slope and setback from the street. We measure the opening, check the grade, and recommend a configuration that won’t bind or sag within a year, then install it with a written record of every setting.

Driveway Gate Installation

Pedestrian Gate Installation

A pedestrian gate is a smaller walk-through gate, often set beside the driveway or into a side yard fence line. These gates take more abuse than driveway gates because they’re used more often and swung harder, so hinge and latch selection matters. We install pedestrian gates with self-closing hinges and a latch that holds up to daily use, and if you want it keyed or tied into an access system, we handle that too.

Pedestrian Gate Installation

Sliding Gate Installation

A sliding gate rides on a track or a cantilever system and is the right choice when your driveway slopes up toward the house or you don’t have room for a gate to swing inward or outward. Sliding gates need a level run and a solid foundation for the track or rollers, which is where Spring’s clay soil comes into play. We set the footings deep enough to resist shifting during wet-dry cycles, then set the gate so it rolls without dragging.

Sliding Gate Installation

Swing Gate Installation

A swing gate pivots on hinges mounted to posts or columns, and it’s the most common gate style in the Spring area because it works well on flat or gently sloped driveways. The weak point on any swing gate is the hinge post, which carries the full weight of the panel every day. We set swing gate posts in concrete at the proper depth, reinforce the hinge mounts, and adjust the gate so it closes square without sagging at the latch side.

Swing Gate Installation

Double Gate Installation

A double gate is two panels that meet in the middle, used when your driveway opening is wider than about 14 feet or when a single panel would be too heavy to move easily. Double gates need matching geometry, a center stop, and coordinated automation if both leaves are motorized. We measure both leaves against the opening, set a center drop rod or stop, and if automation is involved, we sync the operators so both panels start and stop together.

Double Gate Installation

Security Gate Installation

A security gate is designed to slow or stop unauthorized entry, and in Spring it’s often paired with a call box, keypad, or camera at the entry. Security gates are heavier, with reinforced frames and locking hardware that resists prying. We install security gates with the hardware and access controls matched to how you actually use the entry, and we photograph every connection so you have a record of what’s in the ground and on the post.

Brands We Service for Gate Installation

Professional welder performing metal gate hinge installation and repair
Brands We Service for Gate Installation

We install and service automation from nine major brands, which means we don’t steer you toward a replacement motor just because it’s what we happen to stock. On a typical Spring installation, we’re working with LiftMaster, FAAC, Elite, or Mighty Mule operators, and we know their mounting patterns, limit-switch behavior, and failure points well enough to set them correctly the first time.

LiftMaster is the most common operator we see on residential driveways in the area, and we’ve installed hundreds of their swing and slide units. FAAC operators are heavier-duty and show up more often on estate gates and long driveway runs, where their hydraulic or articulated-arm designs handle more cycles. Mighty Mule and Elite are common on mid-range installations, and we know their quirks: Mighty Mule’s sensitivity settings tend to drift in humid weather, and Elite units need precise limit-switch adjustment to avoid slamming. Whatever operator your installation calls for, we set it, test it under load, and leave the settings documented.

Signs You Need Gate Installation Right Now

  • The gate post is leaning more than a few degrees. A leaning post means the footing is failing, and hanging a new gate on a failing post is throwing money away. Once the post moves, the gate will bind, drag, and eventually stress the hinges or the operator until one of them fails.
  • The gate panel is rusted through at the bottom rail or hinge points. Spring’s humidity works on steel gates from the inside out, and once the bottom rail is compromised the panel loses structural integrity. Patching rust on a gate that’s already sagging buys you months, not years.
  • The gate no longer closes square and the gap at the latch keeps changing. That’s a sign the frame is twisting or the hinges are worn past adjustment. A gate that won’t close square is a security opening, and it will only get worse as the hinge pins wear.
  • You’ve replaced the operator twice and the gate still won’t run right. When the automation keeps failing, the problem is often the gate itself: too heavy, misaligned, or mounted on hardware that’s fighting the motor. A new operator won’t fix a gate the motor can’t move properly.
  • A wooden gate is soft at the joints or the pickets are separating from the rails. Wood gates in this climate rot from the joints outward, and once the joinery fails the gate loses its strength. If you can push a picket sideways with one hand, the gate is done.

Our Gate Installation Process - Step by Step

Our Gate Installation Process - Step by Step
  1. 1
Measure and grade check. We measure the opening, check the driveway slope, and look at what’s already in the ground: existing posts, conduit, old footings. In Spring’s clay soil, we also note drainage patterns, because water that ponds at the post base shortens the life of any gate installation.
  2. 2
Written scope and price. Before any work starts, you get a written scope that lists exactly what will be installed, what’s included in the price, and what it costs. That’s Haven Standard Clause 1, and it applies to every job we do, no exceptions.
  3. 3
Footings and hardware. We dig the post holes to the proper depth for the gate weight, set the posts in concrete, and let the footings cure before hanging the panel. Skipping cure time is how gates start leaning within six months, so we schedule for it.
  4. 4
Gate hang and operator mount. We hang the gate, set the hinges, mount the operator if the gate is automated, and wire in the safety sensors. Every limit switch setting is recorded, and we test the gate through full travel cycles with weight on it.
  5. 5
Documentation and walkthrough. Before we leave, you get a photo log of what was installed and a written record of the settings and part numbers. We walk you through how to operate the gate, what to watch for, and what the 365-Day Done Right Promise covers.

How Much Does Gate Installation Cost in Spring?

Here’s what we see on Gate Installation - Spring. A standard single driveway swing gate, steel or aluminum, without automation runs $3,800 to $6,400 installed. Adding an operator pushes that to $5,200 to $9,200 depending on the brand and whether we’re running new conduit for power. A pedestrian gate runs $1,200 to $3,400. A sliding gate starts around $5,500 and goes up from there because the track, rollers, and footing work add cost. Double driveway gates run $6,000 to $12,000 depending on width and automation.

What moves the price: the gate material (aluminum costs more than steel but doesn’t rust), the drive width, whether we’re cutting into existing masonry, and how far the power run is from your panel to the gate. A long conduit run across a wide driveway can add real money. The way to avoid overpaying is to review Gate Installation pricing, get the scope in writing before you sign anything, and ask what’s included in the number: concrete, hardware, operator, sensors, and removal of the old gate if there is one. Our estimates are free, they’re in writing, and they list every line item. No one at Vance Gate Repair will ask you to approve a job without a price in your hand.
