FAAC Welding & Fabrication: The Spring Owner’s Guide

We weld and fabricate FAAC gate parts in Spring, Texas, and we stock the common failure items on the truck. A welded FAAC repair, whether it’s a cracked hinge bracket or a sheared mounting plate, typically runs $180 to $450 installed depending on the damage and the part. Most welding jobs are done same-day once we see the gate. You’ll know this is your problem when the gate sags visibly at the hinge line, scrapes the ground mid-swing, or the operator strains against a mount that’s no longer square. If the gate still moves but makes a grinding noise at the pivot, the bracket has usually cracked through and the metal is flexing under load.

Which FAAC Models This Applies To

We weld and fabricate across the FAAC residential and light-commercial lines you see throughout Spring: the 400 Series operators (402, 412, 415), the 750 and 760 swing-arm models, the 770 hydraulic series, and the C720/C721 slide units. The compatibility gotcha with FAAC is bracket geometry. A 402 uses a different mounting arm radius than a 750, and welding a bracket from one onto the other leaves the travel geometry off by enough to bind the operator. Before we touch a weld, we match the part to the stamped model number on the operator housing and measure the arm offset. For OEM versus aftermarket: FAAC cast brackets are decent, but in this climate many Spring owners go with locally fabricated steel replacements because they’re thicker and cost less than importing the factory piece. We stock both and give you the choice.

Signs Your FAAC Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

Signs Your FAAC Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
  • Gate sags at the hinge side, even with the operator disconnected. This is almost always a cracked or stretched hinge weld. The metal fatigues after years of Houston humidity and thermal cycling, and the gate drops.
  • The operator arm pulls loose from the gate or pillar. The mounting bolts stay tight, but the metal around them fractures. We see this on FAAC 750 brackets in older Spring installations where the gate is heavier than the original spec.
  • Grinding or popping sound mid-travel. The gate is dragging on a cracked weld line, shifting load every time it moves. Left alone, it takes the operator arm bushings with it.
  • Visible rust weeping from a joint. That’s not surface rust, it’s a crack propagating under the paint. On FAAC units, the lower hinge point is the first place to check.
  • The gate stops mid-cycle and reverses, with no obstruction. The cracked bracket flexes enough to trip the FAAC’s obstruction sensing, because the controller reads the extra current draw as a blocked gate.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Spring, a welded hinge or bracket repair on a FAAC gate runs $180 to $450. A full gate re-fabrication, where we cut out and replace a section of the frame or rebuild a mounting post plate, runs $450 to $900. The range depends on whether we’re doing an in-place weld, fabricating a new bracket, or pulling the gate leaf to the shop for a jig alignment. Every price is written before we start under Haven Standard Clause 1. That written quote includes labor, the fabricated part or OEM replacement, grinding and cleanup of the old weld, and a prime coat so the repair doesn’t rust out in the next rainy season. We photograph the finished weld and the part number, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the work for a full year.

DIY or Call Us?

Here’s the honest split. You can safely inspect the gate: look for cracks at the hinge points, check whether the operator arm mount is loose, and note where the gate scrapes or binds. That’s useful information for us. What you should not do is attempt a structural weld on a gate that’s under tension or holding weight. A failed weld on a moving gate leaf can let the gate fall, and a swing gate leaf weighs a lot more than it looks like it does. We use jacks and stands to stabilize the leaf before we break any joint. If you’ve spotted the crack, call (346) 488-1637 and we’ll come take a look, tell you what it needs, and give you the written price on the spot.
