Linear Gate Access Control in Spring: What to Know First

We repair and service Linear gate access control systems across Spring as an independent Linear service provider. Most Linear keypad, radio receiver, and phone-entry repairs are completed same-day when parts are on the truck, and every job starts with a written price before we touch a screw. If you own a Linear gate opener with an access system that’s stopped responding, this page tells you what’s likely wrong, what it should cost, and how we document the fix so nobody has to diagnose it twice.

How Linear Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

Linear equipment has earned its place on a lot of Spring driveway gates, but every line has its habits. Here’s what we actually find when we open the box, in order of frequency:

  • Linear Multi-Code receivers losing memory after a power flicker. The Multi-Code 3089 and 4120 receivers are common on older Spring installations. After a brownout or lightning-adjacent surge (we get plenty of both in spring storms), the receiver drops its stored transmitter codes and the remotes go dead while the gate motor still runs fine. We re-program the codes and add a small surge suppression module at the receiver input. The photo log shows every step so you can see what was lost and what was reset.
  • Linear APeX / LRA keypad buttons worn past contact. The exterior keypads on the Linear APeX series and the older AK-11 take full Houston-area sun and humidity year-round. The silicone overlay breaks down, then moisture creeps into the contact pads. The symptom is buttons that work sometimes, or a keypad that accepts codes only when pressed hard. We replace the keypad assembly with OEM when available, or a weather-sealed aftermarket unit when the original was discontinued – and we hand you the written price difference before we order anything.
  • Linear radio receiver installed too close to metal. On a surprising number of Spring installs in and around Gleannloch Farms, the receiver antenna is bolted directly to the gate’s steel post or tucked behind the control board’s metal enclosure. Range drops from eighty feet to eight. We relocate the antenna to a non-ferrous mast, test the range with a meter, and photograph the before and after placement.
  • MegaCode protocol mismatch after a remote replacement. Linear’s MegaCode rolling-code protocol is used across the MGT and MSR lines. If someone added a non-MegaCode remote (or a generic from a big-box store), the opener ignores it. We verify the protocol with a code analyzer, not by guesswork, then supply the correct MegaCode-compatible remote and confirm it against the receiver’s learn mode.
  • Intercom / phone-entry boards with dead relays on Linear AE-1000 and AE-2000 systems. These older telephone-entry systems use mechanical relays that eventually weld or pit from years of switching. The gate motor still works, but the relay that fires the open command doesn’t close reliably. We replace the relay at the board level where possible or quote the full board replacement where it isn’t, with the part number written on your paperwork before we open the enclosure.

Our Linear Gate Access Control Process

Our Linear Gate Access Control Process
  1. 1
Call and describe the symptom. A live person answers at (346) 488-1637. We ask what’s working and what isn’t – gate motor, keypad, remotes, intercom. We don’t ask you to diagnose, just to describe.
  2. 2
Diagnostic visit with written scope. A background-checked, uniformed technician arrives with the name and photo you already received. We find the fault, then put the repair scope and flat price in writing before any tool comes out of the truck.
  3. 3
Parts decision in the open. If a part is needed, we price OEM and quality aftermarket options side by side and tell you which one we’d use on our own gate. The choice is yours. The price on the sheet is the price you pay.
  4. 4
Repair, test, record. We complete the repair, test every access path – keypad, each remote, any phone or card entry – and document the work with photos: what we found, what we set, what we installed.
  5. 5
Walk-through and records. Before we leave, you get the photo log, the part numbers, and the written record. Nothing left to guess at.
  6. 6
365-Day Done Right Promise. If the repair isn’t right within one year, we return and make it right at no charge. That’s the whole promise.

Why Spring Homeowners Call Vance Gate Repair Spring for Linear Work

We’re the gate company that writes the price down before we pick up a tool. That’s Haven Standard Clause 1, and it applies to every Linear job we do in Spring, from a single worn keypad to a full access-control board swap. Under Clause 4, every visit leaves a documented photo record – part numbers, wiring, limit settings – so no future technician guesses and no homeowner pays twice to rediscover the same fault.

Adrian Vance started this company in 2014 after years of commercial access-control work, and he brought the documentation habit with him. If your Linear gear can’t be repaired economically, we’ll say so plainly and show you why. We service nine major gate automation brands – LiftMaster, FAAC, BFT, Linear, Viking, Ghost Controls, DoorKing, Elite, Mighty Mule – so we never steer you toward a replacement just because it’s the only brand we know. We fix what’s on the post.

The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers every completed repair. If it isn’t right within the year, we return and make it right. No argument, no fee, no expiration within that window.
